Rabia //// Orly Portal
The performance was inspired by Rābia al-Adawiyya al-Qaysiyya, a female Sufi mystic from the 8th Century, also known as the “Poetess of Love” who practiced the belief of Divine Love. Rabia was a special lady. She led the way at a time when the voice of womanhood was not heard, and her journey symbolizes that of women to freedom, to both spiritual and feministic self-expression.
The performance is comprised of two parts. The first part presents two aspects of love, the spiritual aspect and the folklorish aspect. The second part of the performance was created in the exultation of love.
“…Soft and supple movements, introspection, and connection to the oriental dance tradition… Orly Portal’s Dance Company’s new production excels in performing with a touch of magic. .”
